Aref Investment Group, originally known as Arab European Securities Company, was established as a Kuwaiti closed shareholding company in 1975. The company is registered in the commercial register under No. 23154.

On November 22, 1998, Aref Investment Group was listed on Kuwait Stock Exchange. However, it was later delisted on July 20, 2012. The company, operating as AREF Investment, is supervised by the Central Bank of Kuwait for financing activities and by the Capital Markets Authority as an investment company. All activities carried out by the company adhere to the principles of Islamic Sharia, as approved by the Fatwa and Sharia Supervisory Board.
