Tharwa Investment Company announced that in 2Q2022, it signed three market maker agreements, with Noor Investment Company, Integrated Holding Company, and Rasiyat Holding Company.
Tharwa Investment Company stated that its share as a market maker stood at 12.5% of aggregate market's trading activities in 2Q2022, with 21 companies receiving market maker servers from Tharwa, including 16 listed on the Main Market, and 5 companies listed on the Premier Market.
The Company stated that in April, the monthly trading activities were the highest in the first six months during which the company provided market maker services, indicating that it seeks to widen its scope through entering into agreements with a number of companies in various sectors in the third quarter, that should reflect positively on the market and traders.
Currently, 7 investment companies that were licensed by the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) to provide market makers services for shares listed on Boursa Kuwait does not exceed 20% of the total listed companies, noting that the market maker activities in Kuwait may be developed by providing other products including Exchange Traded Funds (ETF) and derivatives.
Market makers play a major role in qualifying companies to be included in global indices, upgrading companies from the Main Market to the Premier Market, in addition to further establishing their inclusion in the Premier Market. Moreover, there are companies that witnessed increased liquidity on their shares because of the market maker, which restored confidence in their shares.
