Wafra International Investment Company announced that it is cooperating with “Ocean Bottle” through distributing recycled “bottles” to the company’s employees, as part of the company’s sustainable development goals raising environmental community awareness.
In a press release issued by the company, Wafra praised this initiative as it collaborates with Ocean Bottle to raise awareness about recycling plastic materials in line with its leading role in protecting the environment from pollution.
The company added that Ocean Bottle offers solutions to the ocean plastic crisis, that everyone can be a part of. This is done through getting rid of plastic waste and at the same time help reduce single use plastic.
“For each Ocean Bottle, 11.4kg of plastic (equivalent to 1,000 plastic bottles heading to the seas) is collected in impoverished coastal communities where plastic pollution is worst. Plastic collectors can exchange plastic waste for money or credit via blockchain technology to spend on tuition, tech goods, health care and micro-finance”. The company added.
The unique design of the bottle, with its anti-leak dual opening lid makes filling and cleaning a breeze. They are dishwasher safe and has easy carry loop. Moreover, its fully recyclable and part made from recycled ocean plastic. The ultimate weapon to pass on single-use plastic every day!
The bottle comes embedded with an NFC enabled smart-chip, which will allow owners to fund more plastic collection for free at the expense of partner retailers around the world, including cafes, gym chains, closed environments and refill programs.
Since launching in 2019, Ocean Bottle has funded the collection of 835,548 kgs of ocean bound plastic.
