The CEO of National Medical Consumables Industries’ (Natmed), Mr Mohammad Al Sharraf, revealed that the company emerged stronger after the Corona virus lockdown period than before.  This was evident in its announcement that it will be distributing 40% cash dividends to its shareholders.  These record dividend distributions confirm that Natmed is one of the unique companies in this category.

Natmed is a leading company in supplying restaurants, hotels, hospitals as well as construction sites with disposable items needed for food delivery as well as in canteens.  Natmed also supplies disposal medical materials to hospitals and the medical sector.  Al Sarraf added: “Natmed also has the distinction of being the largest supplier of all disposable medical materials needed in the prevention, sterilization, treatments and care of the patient before, during and after surgical procedures to government and private medical hospitals.  This includes for example masks, gloves, needles, stitches etc.

Al Sarraf further noted that the company has been in a very fortunate position since its inception because it has strong relationships with both its customers and its suppliers.  He further explained that the company has extensive experience in the field of disposable medical items and a wide network that places it at the forefront of its field.  Natmed deals with the largest and the most reliable companies globally which means that it can bring the best products at the best prices to Kuwait.

During the Corona pandemic, the cost of a box of medical masks increased from a mere 450 fils to more than 6 Kuwaiti Dinars due to the increase in global demand for the products as well as the high cost of air freight.  The demand for masks in the local market is estimated to be about 50 million masks per month which is more than what can be provided by local factories.

Al Sarraf pointed to the great cooperation from and with the government  and all other companies that supply medical and consumer supplies.

The increased demand for environmentally friendly disposable food items coincided with the Corona pandemic.  This increased the sales of these items by around 25%.
